Today I’ll be showing you how to make 5 ingredient ice cream using gluten free, purity protocol oat milk. There’s also information on the optional cinnamon glaze, and the super cool waffle bowl ice cream cone in the photo.
Do I Need an Ice Cream Machine?
Yes and no. The “no churn method” is popular online and we’ve given it a go. However, after trying a lot of methods and a lot of machines, the bottom line is this: for best results, yes, you need an ice cream machine.
Personally, I think an ice cream machine with a compressor built in is one of the best investments a dairy free household can make. This is extra true if you can’t have food made on shared equipment with dairy, which just about every dairy free ice cream on the market is (more about that in this article).
I’ve also found that to get the no-churn methods right, you have to keep an eye on your ice cream and the hand mixing steps shouldn’t be skipped. I’ve also seen people make this work with a NutraMilk. Our goal here on RAISE is to find ways that take up the least amount of your time, and an ice cream machine is the solution in this case.
Once you’ve done your blending, it’s hands off from there.
