After telling my allergy friendly vegan friend, Nikki, about the new Dairy Free Cream of Mushroom Soup recipe, she decided to educate me. As it turns out, in the US Midwest, there’s something called a tater tot hot dish. Apparently it’s popular, and usually loaded with major allergens. With that in mind, I set out to make a gluten free, allergy friendly Midwest Hot Dish that free-from families could share with their Midwest friends. Allergy Status Free From: Wheat/Gluten, Dairy, Egg, Soy, Tree Nut (including Coconut), Peanut, Fish, Shellfish, Sesame, Top 9 Allergens, Apple, Avocado, Banana, Beans & Lentils, Berries, Buckwheat, Cane/Refined Sugar, Carrot, Cinnamon, Citrus, Cruciferous, Latex Cross Reactive Foods (H/M), Legume, Lupin, Mustard, Nightshade, Oat, Pea & Pea Protein, Potato (Nightshade Variety), Rice, Squash & Gourd, Stone Fruits, Strawberry, Sweet Potato & Yam, Tapioca/Cassava/Yuca/Manioc, Tomato, Yeast Friendly To: Diabetic, FPIES Compatible With: Seed Free, EOE Rollin Greens Millet Tot Ingredients: Organic Millet, Organic Onion Flake, Organic Granulated Onion, Sea Salt, Organic Sunflower Oil. Allergy Friendly Cheese Note: For top 9 free cheese you’ll need to use the Follow Your Heart Parmesan Shreds which are also coconut free. Zubi has a top 9 free queso, but it may not be the best flavour profile for this dish. For Seed Free: See the millet note on the cream of mushroom soup recipe. Additionally, you’ll need a tater tot product that’s safe for you. If you don’t have one, you could use shredded potato. Whilst it’s not quite the same, it can still be delicious.
