I don’t know about you guys, but I love that Taco Tuesday is a thing. The kids think it’s somehow connected to the LEGO Movie, but I honestly have no clue. Either way, today I’m going to show you how to make a delicious taco seasoning. I’ll also include a few options below, details on spices, and answer questions I commonly hear when making a taco seasoning recipe.

The Advantages Of Using a Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe
If you’re reading this recipe, there’s a good chance you want a homemade gluten free taco. Or perhaps you’re Keto, Paleo, SCD, GAPs, or a different special diet. Many special diets advise against store bought seasoning packets, but are OK if you make them at home.
Additionally, using an easy homemade mix means there’s no cross contamination. For me, THAT’S the real selling point. I called several companies that sell packets of taco seasoning and other mixes (like ranch and gravy) and they’re made on shared equipment with major and less common allergens.

How To Use Your Gluten Free, Keto, Top 8 Free Taco Seasoning
Once you have your taco seasoning made, you can use it for seasoning meat, tofu, vegetables, eggs, and potatoes. I’ve used this taco seasoning in the pressure cooker, on the stove top, and in the oven. All of the meals turn out great!
For meat (we usually use ground turkey), I like to use 2 Tablespoons of taco seasoning for each pound of meat. For vegetables, eggs, and oven roasted potatoes, I totally eyeball it. The same is true of pressure cooked chicken thigh.
I use the recipe below as a chicken taco seasoning by making my Easy Shredded Chicken recipe. Instead of the seasonings in the original recipe, I use the recipe below. It turns out fantastic.

Is There MSG In Taco Seasoning?
If you purchase a conventional taco seasoning mix at the average grocery store, there’s a good chance it has MSG. There may also be other ingredients you’re not fond of, including anti caking agents (terrible if you’re corn free). When you use homemade taco seasoning, you control what goes in it 100%. In my recipe today, there’s no MSG, and I use a corn free brand of seasoning.
How Do You Make Taco Seasoning Less Spicy
You can adjust the heat of your DIY taco seasoning by using less spices that bring the heat. Usually this is chili powder, red pepper, and chipotle. It really comes down to your ratios. In the video, I’ll talk a lot more about this because my kids can not handle much spice.

I Can’t Stress This Fact Enough
This. Is. EASY. Once you make this top 8 allergy free taco seasoning mix, you won’t look back. I sure haven’t. Plus, you save SO MUCH time! And if that’s not enough, the kids were SO excited to have a seasoning jar full to use whenever they’d like (usually I just eyeball taco meat).
What’s funny is, for a long time, I avoided making mixes like these. It seemed like extra work I didn’t feel like doing. Now, I can’t wait to have a cabinet full of my go-to blends. Honestly, homemade seasoning blends… it’s liberating.
