Basic Vanilla Glaze Recipe For Cookies, Doughnuts, & More (GF, V, T9)

Vanilla Glazed Baked Doughnut by The Allergy Chef

If you’re looking for a basic vanilla glaze recipe for sugar cookies, doughnuts, and other treats, this is what you need. You can also use this glaze recipe for homemade poptarts. The good news is that it’s easier to make glaze than frosting for those who may be new to baking, ANDDDDD this glaze freezes well once you’ve applied it to your baked goods.

Can This Be Used as an Egg Free Royal Icing Substitute?

Technically yes. Is it exactly the same? Of course not. However, you can still flood cookies with this recipe, add flavouring agents, and colours as well. Adding both the latter can make really cool seasonal projects that much more tasty.

What’s great about this glaze recipe is that I’ve tested it on loads of cut out sugar cookies and it gets the job done. You can adjust the ratios slightly (I’ll talk more about that later) so you have an icing that can be the dam, as well as an icing that floods a little easier.

You can also use all of the same cookie decorating tools when using this recipe.
