As I was working in the bakery, I decided it would be a good opportunity to help you all SEE what cross contact/contamination looks like. If you may recall, I have a somewhat unpopular opinion that people with severe food allergies shouldn’t eat out at most restaurants (the 30% group that can’t do shared equipment). After today’s demonstration, I think you’ll SEE why.
This cross contact demo can also help you see why you’ll need to take certain precautions in your own home (especially true for a mixed allergy household), and in some cases, not bring an allergen into your home. Finally, this demonstration can help you SEE why calling companies, or using the Legacy Safe Product Lists can help you choose brands that will have facilities that meet your needs.
